Most of Cloud Operating Systems (Cloud OS) usually use their built-in network control unit and adopts the “overlay network” approach to build virtual networks for applications running in data centers. While this approach satisfies the basic networking requirement, it cannot perform more accurate resource control on physical network to efficiently utilize the resource of the network invested by data center operators. To address this issue,EstiNet provides a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solution based on the Cloud OS’s overlay network architecture. By adopting EstiNet’s C-Central Controller and SDN-capable data center grade switches, EstiNet’s C-Central solution can build a physical underlay network that is capable of detecting network traffic loads in real time and dynamically distributing loads over the whole physical network for a cost-efficient IaaS network infrastructure.
The C-Central solution comprises EstiNet’s C-Central commercial-grade network controller and OpenFlow-capable DC-grade switches, forming a software-defined network centrally controlled by EstiNet C-Central. Through the OpenFlow protocol, the C-Central solution realizes flow-level fine-grained network management and provides real-time dynamic routing and load-balancing functions, optimizing the use of resources in a spine-leaf two-tier network infrastructure.
